UPDATED March 14, 2020, 3:30 p.m.

Sometimes you have to make that difficult decision.

It is with a very heavy heart that we have made the decision to suspend our inaugural Femme Folks Fest Festival as a result of ongoing COVID-19 concerns. Out-of-town performers and local venues have expressed their concern and in an abundance of caution we have made this determination for the health and safety of our audience, artists, volunteers and festival staff.

We are in the process of migrating some of our programming to digital platforms.  Please check our social media – twitter, fb and Instagram – throughout this month. Planned performances, panels, Pop-UP’s and professional development classes will be rescheduled within the current season. Want to stay in touch for updates?  Send an email to:  hello@femmefolksfest.ca and we will keep you informed.

For the many patrons who purchased tickets – we thank you for supporting our first Femme Folks Fest. For those holding tickets for cancelled events, please let us know how you would like to proceed – either by refund or by donation to our festival through a charitable receipt in the amount of your ticket price.

On behalf of all our artists, volunteers and staff, my thanks.

About the Festival

40+ Events.  10 Venues.  Pop-Up’s daily.

Welcome to Femme Folks Fest.  A new month-long festival in Waterloo Region dedicated to and in celebration of Women identified or presenting. Productions. Panels. Pop-Ups. Professional Development. March is #femmefolks.

Celebrated in March worldwide, International Women’s month is a focal point for the championing of women’s rights and gender equality. At present there is no consistent large-scale programming dedicated to Women in Waterloo Region to coincide with International Women’s Month.

We believe it’s time.

Femme Folks Fest is produced by Pat the Dog Theatre Creation. Founded in 2006, Pat the Dog provides an essential home for the creation of extraordinary new works of Canadian theatre. The company is led by Artistic Director Lisa O’Connell.

Pat the Dog Theatre Creation acknowledges that we are located on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to Six Nations, which included six miles on each side of the Grand River. We are on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral Confederacy), Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples.
