Join Virtu Arts Theatre for the inaugural On The Burg (OTB) Writers Intensive Community Presentation! After six months of play development led by dramaturg and playwright, Teneile Warren, the OTB playwrights will share their plays in development through heightened storytelling followed by a community conversation.

The On The Burg (OTB) Writers Intensive is an 8-month-long play development intensive for Black burgeoning artists based outside of Toronto who tell stories that live on the edge. OTB supports two Black writers at any point in their careers to develop their play/idea for a play into a completed first draft. Facilitated by Jamaican-born, non-binary, and queer playwright and activist, Teneile Warren, writers will participate in group sessions and individual dramaturgy mentorship curated to help their writing process and personal artistic development flourish. The intensive will culminate in a play workshop with actors and a director followed by a public staged reading that showcases excerpts from each piece in development.
